Captain Md Shakhawat Hossainh, BN (Retd) and Mrs. E S Choi (Lady Winner) win the 34th Korean Cup Golf Tournament 2014 (3 days, March 19-21) on March 21, 2014 at 7:30 pm at the new club house, Kurmitola Golf Club arranged by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Dhaka and the Korean Community in Bangladesh. Mr. Hee Yoon, Chairman of Korean Community hosted the award ceremony. Lieutenant General Mollah Fazle Akbar, ndc, psc commandant, National Defence College, Bangladesh was the chief guest. H.E. Mr. Lee Yun-young, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bangladesh gave away the prizes to the winners as the special guest. Some 600 golfers will take part in this year’s event.
H.E. Mr. Lee Yun-young, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bangladesh said that over the years the Korean Cup Golf Tournament has been one of the most enjoyable golf events in Dhaka and served as a catalyst for bringing all golf-lovers together, having them develop bonds of friendship and a strong sense of community as well. The Embassy will keep supporting this type of event which will develop Kurmitola Golf Club. Further, this event will serve to enhancing mutual understanding and further promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries. He also thanked to all participants, sponsors, Kurmitola Golf Club and Korean Community in Dhaka for arranging such event.
Major General Mizanur Rahman Khan, Vice President of Kurmitola Golf Club, Brig Gen Abdiur Reza Khan (Retd), Charman, Tournament Committee, Kurmitola Golf Club, Col. Sardar Hassan Kabir (Retd), CEO, Kurmitola Golf Club, Lt Col Md Tozammel Haque (Retd), Excutive officer, Kurmitola Golf Club and Mr. Moon Choonsoo, MD, Samsung Bangladesh Ltd. were also present at the event. A large number of participants, members of Korean Community and high civil military officials with their spouses attended the event.
