Storm Sandy hits US East Coast

There are chaotic scenes in America's mass-populated eastern coast today after one of the biggest storms in the  US history which smashed into the east coast of New Jersey.

There are lots of report of injury and at least 10 deaths, with widespread flooding on the road and houses and power outages reported in several states. Big parts of lower Manhattan are under water, with widespread power cuts and electrical fires.
There are fears of widespread flooding in Long Island Sound. New York's 911 calling system is being inundated with 20,000 calls every half hour.
The storm's wind field stretched from the Canadian border to South Carolina and it's getting heavy.
